The Legacy Lives On...

October 31, 1984—July 18, 2005

Lauren Fitzgerald, a sophomore student at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, died at age 20, fourteen months after being diagnosed with a primary brain tumor. Lauren’s family established charitable funds in her memory and events to support those funds, as listed below:

Lauren’s Fund Report

How are monies collected in Lauren’s memory used?  In cooperation with the Berks County Community Foundation (BCCF) we have accomplished the following
from July, 2005 to July, 200
8.

$18,000: Used to established a permanent scholarship fund at BCCF, benefiting Berks County high school seniors.

$6,000: Six $1,000 scholarships were awarded in 2006-2007 to Berks County high school seniors that have risen above adverse circumstances and challenges.

$14,000: Used to establish a permanent charitable fund at BCCF that will make annual donations to the American Brain Tumor Association.

$1,875: Direct contributions to the American Brain Tumor Association in Lauren's memory, for continued research.

$1,350: Donations to local families that have lost children to cancer and other brain tumor/cancer-related causes.
